IFT as a co-author presented the paper “Effect of Weather on the Performance of Autonomous Vehicle LiDAR Sensors” at ASME International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition (IMECE), an annual event where R&D leaders from industry, government, and academia gather to network and share insights for innovation across various engineering disciplines. Autonomous vehicles are gradually entering the industrialization stage. As a result, there is an increased demand for light detection and ranging (LiDAR) sensors in these vehicles. However, the quality of the detection under various weather conditions severely degrades effectiveness, especially regarding range. The IFT co-authored research work investigates and analyzes the performance of LiDAR sensors under adverse weather conditions and the effects of LiDAR. channels on object detection.
