Multicarrier Constant Envelope Waveform for GNSS
IFT’s MCEW is designed to convert separate GNSS waveforms to a wideband multi-carrier CE modulation which can be demodulated using existing GNSS user equipment. MCEW has the benefits of enhancing the coherency of different GNSS bands and saving the number of High-Power Amplifiers (HPAs). A USRP testbed is developed to illustrate the MCEW.
MCEW Overview:
– Chip error rate is no worse than the standard GNSS signals with existing GNSS receivers
– Improved coherence among GNSS channels (i.e., L1, L2 L5 of GPS)
– Correlation loss is 0.08dB (much better than the 0.3dB specified in GPS ICDs)
– GPS L5 S-Curve Bias 1.24 nanosecond (similar to the standard GPS L5)
METHOD: Three-step architecture consisting of carries, radius, and CR inter-modulation
KEYWORDS: Multi-carrier modulation, constant envelope, GNSS, subcarrier, inter-modulation, correlation loss, S-curve bias, backward compatibility.
TECHNICAL SPECS: Standard Chip error rate, GNSS channels, GPS L5 S-Curve Bias
